Early this morning, police charged four teenage boys following a series of alleged offences that culminated in a crash involving a stolen vehicle in Oxenford.
At approximately 1:40AM, police responded to an attempted break-in at a home in Maudsland. The suspects reportedly attempted to enter the residence before fleeing the scene. Shortly after this incident, a Nissan Patrol—believed to have been involved in the Maudsland burglary attempt—was involved in a collision with a Kia Stinger on Kopps Road. Fortunately, no injuries were reported for the occupants of the Kia.
Further investigations by police revealed that the Nissan Patrol had been reported stolen from Masthead Drive in Cleveland on August 26. Acting quickly, officers located and apprehended four teenage boys believed to be involved in both the burglary attempt and the subsequent vehicle collision.
Following their arrest, each boy faced multiple charges:
- A 14-year-old from Helensvale: Charged with attempted unlawful entry of a dwelling at night, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of suspected stolen property.
- A 15-year-old from Caboolture: Charged with unlicensed driving, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, attempted unlawful entry of a dwelling at night, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of suspected stolen property.
- A 16-year-old from Logan Central: Charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of suspected stolen property.
- A 16-year-old from Logan Reserve: Charged with attempted unlawful entry of a dwelling at night, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of suspected stolen property.
All four boys were denied bail and are scheduled to appear in Southport Children’s Court today, August 28.
This incident highlights a concerning rise in youth involvement in crimes, particularly those involving stolen vehicles and attempted burglaries.
