A 48-year-old Maroochydore man has been arrested by New South Wales Police following the alleged armed robbery of a bank in Coolangatta on December 10.
The incident occurred around 12PM yesterday when the man allegedly entered a Griffith Street bank armed with a knife and demanded cash from staff. Following the robbery, the suspect fled the scene.
Later that evening, at approximately 7:30PM, NSW Police located the man on the Pacific Highway near Ballina. He was taken into custody without incident.
Queensland Police detectives are set to attend Lismore Magistrates Court today to apply for the man’s extradition to Queensland to face charges.
Residents in the area have expressed concerns over the incident, with local authorities reminding the community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to Crime Stoppers.
