A man has been charged following a violent incident in Bundall yesterday, November 21, which involved an alleged wounding and attempted robbery.
Police reports indicate the incident occurred around 12:35PM when a 28-year-old man sitting in a vehicle at a business on Bundall Road was approached by two unknown males. One man was allegedly armed with a knife, while the other carried a sawn-off shotgun.
During the confrontation, it is alleged the man wielding the knife stabbed the victim’s hands before stealing his car keys. The two men fled separately, with one driving away in a white Holden Cruze stolen earlier from Merrimac on November 19, and the other escaping on foot. The victim was treated for stab wounds and transported to hospital.
Shortly after, at around 12:45PM, police allege the suspect driving the stolen Holden Cruze was seen driving dangerously along Showcase Court before crashing the vehicle. Fortunately, no members of the public were injured during the incident.
Police apprehended a 41-year-old Gilston man, who has since been charged with wounding in a public place while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance, robbery armed in company, and unlawful use of a motor vehicle. He is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court today, November 22.
Authorities are urging anyone with information, including CCTV or dashcam footage of either incident, to contact police as investigations continue.
