Authorities and residents are on high alert after reports of teenage thieves targeting homes and vehicles in the Robina area. The spree, which began in the southern suburbs of Brisbane, has now extended to the Gold Coast, with the culprits showing no signs of slowing down.
According to reports, the teenage suspects initially stole a vehicle over three weeks ago in Brisbane. Since then, they’ve been joyriding that same stolen Audi Q3, which they’ve allegedly been using as a getaway car during their suburban prowls.
Despite their current ride, the teens appear to be on the hunt for another vehicle, scoping out Robina neighborhoods for their next target. They’ve reportedly attempted to break into at least one house, sparking concerns among locals about their escalating boldness.
The suspects are described as young, skinny white males in their mid-teens. They were last seen wearing:
- COVID-19 facemasks, likely to obscure their identities
- Polo Ralph Lauren t-shirts
- Tracksuit pants
- No shoes
Their casual appearance combined with their behavior—boldly wandering residential areas—has drawn the attention of neighbors and concerned citizens.
Robina, known for its family-friendly environment and upscale homes, has become a target for these teens. The area’s relative quiet and affluence make it an attractive spot for opportunistic thefts.
Residents have expressed frustration and concern about the teens’ disregard for others’ property. “They seem fearless, just walking around like they own the place,” one local remarked.
Authorities are urging Robina residents to take extra precautions to protect their homes and vehicles:
- Lock Your Doors and Windows: Ensure all entry points to your home are secure, especially at night.
- Secure Your Vehicles: Always lock your car, even if it’s parked in your driveway, and avoid leaving valuables inside.
- Install Security Systems: CCTV cameras and motion sensor lights can deter would-be thieves and provide evidence in case of an incident.
- Report Suspicious Activity: If you see individuals matching the suspects’ description or notice unusual behavior, report it immediately.
Police are investigating the series of thefts and attempted break-ins. While no arrests have been made yet, officers are working with residents to collect CCTV footage and other evidence to identify the suspects.
