In an unfortunate turn of events, a local resident has fallen victim to a brazen act of theft while trying to keep their vehicle safe during Cyclone Alfred. The incident took place in the parking lot next to Goodlife Bundall, where the owner of a white Isuzu D-Max ute had parked the vehicle in an attempt to shield it from the extreme weather conditions caused by the cyclone.
However, when the vehicle owner returns, they will likely be in for a nasty surprise. Thieves took advantage of the storm and the owner’s absence to jack up the Isuzu D-Max, steal the wheels and rims, and leave the vehicle sitting precariously on top of a stack of bricks laid vertically. The theft is suspected to have been carried out with the intent to resell the wheels and rims, or possibly even put them on another vehicle.
The stolen wheels were a significant loss for the vehicle owner, who had trusted the location as a safe spot to protect their ute during the storm. The sight of the car raised up on bricks is not only a reminder of the audacity of thieves but also highlights the vulnerability of vehicles in public parking lots, especially during times when owners are away or distracted by events like a cyclone.
If you spot any wheels that resemble the ones stolen from the Isuzu D-Max or have any knowledge of the theft, please contact local law enforcement.
