Gold Coast detectives are calling on the community to assist with their investigation into an assault that occurred in Mermaid Beach on the evening of Wednesday, September 25.
A 24-year-old woman reported being followed by a man along Hedges Avenue, starting in Broadbeach and continuing to Mermaid Beach. Around 10:10PM, the man allegedly grabbed her and attempted to force her toward Ken Mansbridge Park.
Fortunately, the woman managed to break free from her attacker and sought help, avoiding further harm.
The suspect is described as being in his mid to late 40s, with dark skin, and approximately 165cm tall. He was last seen wearing a white shirt, cream shorts, black shoes, a baseball cap, and carrying a dark jacket.
Investigators are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward. Police are particularly interested in dashcam footage from motorists or CCTV footage from nearby residents in the following areas:
- Hedges Avenue between 9:45 pm and 10:30 pm on Wednesday, September 25
- Montana Avenue, where the offender is believed to have fled after the assault
